Often there are special or personal reasons for making the quilts. Gayla Goerge is one of the newest members of the sewing group. She said, “I am part of a military family. My father served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Both of my brothers joined the Air Force Back in the 1970s. My sister married a sailor, and I also went on to marry a sailor in the U.S. Navy. My husband served eight years during the Vietnam era. After 9/11, my youngest son decided he wanted to join the U.S. Navy. He is currently a chief based out of Maryland. He has decided to make this his lifetime career. You can see why I am so very proud of our U.S. military.
